NEW MEMBERS WELCOME
Southern Federation of Dance welcomes new members to the association. To join the association, download the membership application form as a Word document here.
Membership structure is as follows:
ASSOCIATE (ASFD)
Associates (friends) of Southern Federation of Dance may be students, student teachers, unqualified teachers or other interested parties over the age of 17 years.
1. An Associate of Southern Federation of Dance may not enter students for examinations or puchase syllabus DVD's.
2. An Associate is entitled to;
- A membership card
- Receive all letters and newsletters
- Vote
- Be nominated and voted onto the Southern Federation of Dance committee of management
- Assist on Southern Federation of Dance sub-committees
- Attend syllabus inservices, learning days and masterclasses
- Attend workshops
- Purchase syllabus
Associate membership fee $90.00 per annum
MEMBER (MSFD)
To qualify for membership to Southern Federation of Dance the applicant must be able to:
1. Provide evidence of Southern Federation of Dance's minimum required qualifications:
- Southern Federation of Dance Teaching Certificate in Classical, Jazz or Tap, or
- Teaching Qualifications in another method, eg. RAD, ISTD, BBO, ATOD or
- A tertiary qualification in education AND have passed Intermediate or Advanced Classical with a recognised society, eg. SFD, RAD, ISTD, BBO, ATOD or
- Have been running own dance school for a minimum of 10 years
2. A Member is entitled to:
- A certificate and membership card
- Enter students for exams
- Receive all letters and newsletters
- Vote
- Be nominated and voted onto the SFD committee of management and may also hold an executive position
- Enter students into SFD Scholarship Competitions (refer to SFD Scholarship Rules)
- Attend syllabus inservices, learning days and masterclasses
- Attend workshops
- Enter students for classes with guest teachers
- Purchase mainstream syllabus notes and DVD's
Membership fee $135.00 per annum
STUDIO MEMBERSHIP
A Studio Membership comprises one Full Member and four Associate members. Download a Studio Membership form as a Word document here.
To qualify for a Studio Membership of Southern Federation of Dance the applicant must be:
- A full member of Southern Federation of Dance and be the Principal/Director of his/her own school of dance.
- The full member may nominate four teachers within their studio who will qualify as Associate members. The Associate Members will be nominated annually and are non transferable. The nominated Associate Members will not have to pay the $10 joining fee.
- The same conditions and entitlements apply to the Full Member and Associate Members within the Studio Membership structure.
Membership fee $400.00 per annum
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
Student membership is offered to students who have successfully completed Level 10 or Elementary examination, or the Teaching Certificate Course.
Student Members are entitled to attend:
- annual SFD Convention
- student Masterclasses
Membership fee $30.00 per annum
LICENTIATE (LSFD)
Nominated by the President & awarded by the committee. To qualify as a Licentiate of Southern Federation of Dance the applicant must be able to:
1. Satisfy Southern Federation of Dance's minimum requirements:
- SFD Teaching Diploma or
- Pass all the requirements of MSFD and have made a significant contribution to the development of Southern Federation of Dance
- Have been a member for 10 or more years and have entered students for at least 8 of those years
2. May be appointed as an examiner of the Southern Federation of Dance
3. A Licentiate is entitled to:
- A certificate and membership card
- Enter students for exams
- Receive all letters and newsletters
- Vote
- Be nominated and voted onto the SFD committee of management and may also hold an executive position
- Enter students into SFD Scholarship Competitions (refer to SFD Scholarship Rules)
- Attend syllabus inservices, learning days and masterclasses
- Attend workshops
- Enter students for classes with guest teachers
Membership fee $135.00 per annum
FELLOWSHIP (FSFD)
Nominated by the President & awarded by the committee.
1. A Fellowship may be awarded to a member who has demonstrated loyalty to Southern Federation of Dance and made an outstanding contribution to Southern Federation of Dance.
2. A Fellow is entitled to;
- A certificate and membership card
- Enter students for exams
- Receive all letters and newsletters
- Vote
- Be nominated and voted onto the Southern Federation of Dance committee of management and may also hold an executive position
- Enter students into SFD Scholarship Competitions (refer to SFD Scholarship Rules)
- Attend syllabus inservices, learning days and masterclasses
- Attend workshops
- Enter students for classes with guest teachers
Membership fee $135.00 per annum
DANCE FUSION (DF)
A Dance Fusion member is entitled to:
- Enter students for Dance Fusion examinations
- Attend syllabus Convention, learning days and Masterclasses
- Attend Workshops
- Vote
- A membership card
- Receive all letters and newsletters
- Assist on Southern Federation of Dance sub-committees
- Members must upgrade to that of a Full Member if intending to enter candidates for any mainstream examination.
- Existing ASFD or MSFD membership will allow the Teacher to enter candidates into Dance Fusion examinations.
Membership fee $130.00 per annum
HONORARY LIFE MEMBER
Nominated and awarded by the committee. Life-long and non financial. Conditions of Membership
NEW MEMBERS
- New members will be required to pay a joining fee of $10.00.
- Southern Federation of Dance reserves the right to alter any of the above specifications at any time.
- Any of the above memberships can be terminated/revoked at the discretion of the Southern Federation of Dance Committee.
- Southern Federation of Dance reserves the right to refuse membership to any person.
